Disneyland Paris has recently and quietly removed the LED lights from the turrets of Sleeping Beauty Castle. These lights had been part of several nighttime shows since late 2022 but have now completely disappeared.
The LED lights were first introduced during the 2022 Christmas season, as part of Disneyland Paris’ 30th Anniversary celebrations. They made their debut with the return of the nighttime show Disney Dreams! of Christmas, which featured new lighting effects. Similar lighting was also used in the drone show Disney D-Light and postshow of Disney Dreams! of Christmas.
During the 2022 Pass Annuel Showtime, Disney even shared a concept design of the LED setup on Sleeping Beauty Castle.

The lights returned in 2023 during the extended 30th Anniversary celebrations, when Disney also brought back the classic Disney Dreams nighttime show. Later, at the beginning of the Disney Symphony of Colours season, the LED lights were used briefly once again. They lit up the castle in the evening and added extra sparkle during the Disney Electrical Sky Parade.
Technical Issues
Despite their magical look, the lights often suffered from technical issues. Several turrets would frequently remain unlit when they were supposed to shine. Over time, the lights were left unused for over a year. Even with the launch of Disney’s newest nighttime spectacular Disney Tales of Magic, the lights were not brought back. Instead, new effects like projections on the Main Street façades, were introduced.

Now Removed
The LED lights on Sleeping Beauty Castle have now been fully removed from all turrets of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Disney has not made any official statement about their removal. It’s unclear whether the lights will return in the future or if this is the end of the effect.

While the installation was subtle and likely went unnoticed by the average guest, we quietly hope the lights won’t return.
