Experiencing The Unlucky Nugget Saloon at Disneyland Paris
On October 1st, the Disney Halloween Festival made its return to Disneyland Paris, and one of the most talked-about addition this year wasn’t a parade or show, but a restaurant overlay. The Lucky Nugget Saloon in Frontierland has been transformed into The Unlucky Nugget Saloon, with a full Phantom Manor theme designed by Walt Disney Imagineering Paris.

Atmosphere and Theming
The entire concept is based on Mélanie Ravenswood’s wedding reception, creating a dark and ghostly vibe both inside and outside the restaurant. Even small details were considered, like napkins themed after the iconic Phantom Manor wallpaper. The second floor was open for seating, the queue extended outside, and there was noticeably more staff than usual. It was clear Disney anticipated the demand.

Inside, the stage was the highlight. A wedding table display featured a large wedding cake, surrounded by wrapped gifts and a portrait of Mélanie Ravenswood that turned out to be a screen with a subtle effect. Every 10 to 15 minutes, a ghostly piano effect played automatically, which helped bring the ambiance to life. Still, seeing no live appearances from Mélanie or Henry Ravenswood felt like a missed opportunity.

Seasonal Menu: Hits and Misses
For the overlay, the entire menu was updated with Phantom Manor-inspired dishes.
We first tried the Burger of the Manor Menu, which came with:
- Pulled chicken
- Caramelised onions
- Black garlic sauce
- Doritos®, bacon, lettuce and Pepper Jack cheese
It was served with a mix of French fries and sweet potato fries (or salad), plus a drink. The flavor was decent, but it didn’t stand out compared to other seasonal offerings we’ve tried over the years.

The Nuptial Doom Bagel Menu was more impressive. It featured:
- A black bagel
- Beef patty
- Gouda cheese pesto
- Pickled red onion
- Blackcurrant mayonnaise
- Avocado cream sauce
Also served with fries or salad. This one reminded us of the specialty burgers sometimes offered at Annette’s Diner and was one of the better burgers we’ve had in the parks.

Desserts
There were three dessert choices. The most interesting was the Fortune Teller’s Temptation, themed after Madame Leota, made of passion fruit mousse, caramel and sponge cake. The other options were a fruit salad and the Tombstone Sundae, a vanilla ice cream with black popcorn and chocolate sauce.

We ordered the fruit salad expecting a themed version with cotton candy, but it arrived without any theming. The server didn’t speak English, which made communication difficult, and nothing was resolved initially. After speaking to the manager, we were told the cotton candy was unavailable, but this wasn’t mentioned when we ordered. In the end, the staff brought us the Tombstone Sundae instead, which we appreciated.

Pricing and Value
Each menu costs €30, which is €5 more than the usual non-overlay menu (€25). Annual Pass discounts still applied. For families, the cost adds up quickly, especially when buffets at hotels like Santa Fe or Davy Crockett Ranch start from around €35. For guests using a meal plan, it might be easier to justify.
A kids’ menu is also available for €16 for children ages 3 to 11.

There’s also a sweet break option for €15, available from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., which includes a specialty cocktail and a Phantom Manor-themed donut. Honestly, we’d be more likely to return for that than another full meal.

No Reservations Needed
You don’t need to book in advance. You simply join the queue outside.

Final Thoughts
The overlay’s strongest feature is the theming. Imagineering clearly put effort into creating something atmospheric and visually memorable, and it’s exciting to think this experience could return in future Halloween seasons. However, we’ve visited The Lucky Nugget Saloon less frequently over the past few years due to declining service and the lack of entertainment on stage. This would have been a perfect opportunity to introduce live performers or characters, but Disney didn’t take that extra step.

We’re glad we experienced The Unlucky Nugget Saloon on opening day, but we don’t plan to return again this season for a full meal. The sweet break might draw us back, but the current offering doesn’t fully justify a second visit at that price.
The Disney Halloween Festival runs until November 2, 2025, so there’s still time for fans to see the overlay and decide for themselves.
