Big Thunder Mountain is set for a pretty noticeable temporary closure at Disneyland Paris this summer. In July 2026, the popular attraction will be closed for a short refurbishment period, from July 6 through July 17, 2026.
So far, the attraction hasn’t had any scheduled maintenance this year. In previous years, Big Thunder Mountain was usually taken down for refurbishment during the early months of the year.
Last year, Big Thunder Mountain went through a major refurbishment from January 6 to June 21, 2025. During that time, sections of the tunnel and rail system were completely replaced, and many of the ride’s signature effects — like water, lighting, and sound— were restored or enhanced.
Disney even used drones to help clean parts of the mountain.

Thankfully, this year’s refurbishment will be much shorter, lasting just 12 days. The ride will close on July 6, 2026, and is scheduled to reopen on July 18, 2026.
Still, it’s quite surprising to see such a popular attraction like Big Thunder Mountain closing right in the middle of the summer season. The closure even overlaps with Bastille Day, France’s national holiday.

The good news is that all other attractions in Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure World are expected to remain open during this period.
Also in Frontierland this summer, new scenes will be added along the route of Rivers of the Far West, inspired by the original drawings of Imagineer and Disney Legend Marc Davis.
