Disney has shared an exciting new behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming The Lion King attraction coming to Disneyland Paris!
A newly released scale model offers fans a closer look at one of the attraction’s scenes, featuring Audio-Animatronics figures of Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa in a lush rainforest setting. It’s our best glimpse yet at what promises to be one of the most ambitious attractions ever built at Disneyland Paris.
First announced in August 2024, this massive new themed land will transport guests deep into the African savanna, immersing them in the unforgettable adventures of Simba, Timon, Pumbaa, and many other beloved characters from Disney’s animated classic.
Walt Disney Imagineering has already started teasing some truly jaw-dropping moments that guests can expect when the attraction opens. By combining cutting-edge projection effects, state-of-the-art Audio-Animatronics technology, and immersive storytelling, the attraction aims to bring the world of The Lion King to life like never before.
“I promise you that when you go on this ride there will be things that you will look at and say, ‘Wow, how did they do that?'” said Imagineer John Mauro.
One of the key goals for the project is to faithfully recreate the beauty and atmosphere of the African savanna right in Paris. Construction on the new land officially began in Fall 2025 and work is now well underway.
The new Lion King land is currently under construction and will become part of Adventure Way. Adventure Way officially welcomed guests at the end of March 2026 alongside the opening of the highly anticipated World of Frozen, marking a major milestone in the park’s transformation.
Disney has not yet confirmed an opening date for The Lion King land. However, guests can look forward to another new addition to Adventure Way next year: a flying chair carousel inspired by Disney•Pixar’s Up, which will be located opposite Raiponce Tangled Spin.
With construction progressing and new details slowly being revealed, excitement continues to grow. We expect Disney to share even more information about this exciting project later this summer during the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California.
