We previously reported that Crush’s Coaster would be closing in September 2026 for maintenance. For quite some time, there had been rumours that the attraction was set to receive a much longer refurbishment and those rumours have now been confirmed by Disneyland Paris.
Crush’s Coaster will temporarily close on September 7, 2026 in Disney Adventure World, and is expected to remain closed until summer 2027. That means guests will have to say goodbye to their ride through the East Australian Current for quite a while.
Disneyland Paris has now shared a little more information about what will happen during this major refurbishment.
The biggest refurbishment since opening
Crush’s Coaster opened in 2007 and has become one of the most popular attractions at Disney Adventure World. This upcoming project will be the most extensive technical refurbishment the ride has ever received.
Several Disneyland Paris teams are already preparing for the work, including Design & Delivery, Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, Maintenance, and the Disneyland Paris Central Workshops.
The goal is to make sure the attraction can continue operating reliably for many years to come, while also improving comfort for both guests and Cast Members.
Major technical upgrades
The refurbishment is expected to last around ten months and will take place in two main phases.
During the first phase, teams will work on many of the systems that are essential to the attraction’s operation. This includes the replacement of several technical components, such as certain control systems, sensors, communication equipment, and selected sections of track.
The second phase will focus on testing and technical validation. This is an important step to make sure everything works properly and safely before the attraction reopens to guests.
Refreshing the show elements
The project will not only focus on technical improvements. Disneyland Paris will also use this closure to refresh the attraction’s show elements.
Teams will clean, repaint, and repair several scenic pieces throughout the ride. This should help preserve the colourful underwater world inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo and bring the East Australian Current back to its full brilliance.
Another long closure at Disneyland Paris
Crush’s Coaster previously had an extended six-month closure back in 2015, but this new refurbishment will be even bigger. With a closure running from September 2026 until summer 2027, this will be one of the longest and most important refurbishments in the attraction’s history.
It is definitely a long wait for fans of the attraction, but the work should help keep Crush’s Coaster in great shape for many years to come.
