What should have been one of the most festive days of the year will instead end on a disappointing note. Due to the extreme heatwave affecting France, local authorities have issued a temporary ban on all fireworks displays, meaning the traditional Bastille Day fireworks at Disneyland Paris will not take place, they might do the show with drones only.
For many guests, this is a huge disappointment. Every year on July 14, Bastille Day is the highlight of the summer season, with Disneyland Paris presenting its biggest fireworks spectacular of the year. The nighttime show is one of the main reasons thousands of visitors plan their trip around this special celebration.
According to the official prefectural order, the ban has been introduced because of the exceptional wildfire risk caused by the extreme heatwave. It prohibits all fireworks displays (categories F1 to F4 and T1 to T2) as well as the lighting of celebratory fires, including bonfires and campfires, in all outdoor public and private areas across the department.
The restrictions take effect from Friday, July 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. and will remain in force through July 15, 2026. During this period, all exceptional permits allowing the use of fireworks have also been suspended.
Unfortunately, this is the second time in a short period that Disneyland Paris’ highly anticipated nighttime entertainment has been affected. Whenever France experiences an extreme heatwave, strict emergency measures are put in place to reduce the risk of wildfires, often resulting in fireworks displays being cancelled even for Disneyland Paris with their own well trained fire departement.
