The beautiful backlighting of the stained glass windows in Liberty Arcade and Discovery Arcade on Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland Paris has finally been restored! This lighting effect, meant to simulate daylight, had been missing for years.
It’s great to see that the teams are working hard to bring back this detail. In recent years, the gas lamps in both arcades were often turned off, which made the spaces feel darker. While there are still some parts of the Main Street arcades that need more work, the areas where the lighting is already working look beautiful. Not to mention that the stained glass clerestory can finally be seen in full color.

Both Main Street arcades are unique features at Disneyland Paris
They let guests walk through Main Street while staying protected from the rain or cold. They also give access to shops and are full of theme and history. Liberty Arcade tells the story of the Statue of Liberty, with photos, artwork, and displays that link the U.S. and France. Discovery Arcade celebrates inventions and creative ideas for the future.
It looks like the Arcades are getting more attention than just the lighting. Here in Discovery Arcade, entire walls are being renovated.

It’s exciting to see the park getting these kinds of updates. Last year, Sleeping Beauty Castle received brand-new nighttime lighting. Right now, the teams are also working on new exterior lighting for Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain. The new lights will include different effects each time a train is launched into space at night.
