One of the golden spires has recently been removed from Sleeping Beauty Castle, possibly because of a safety issue.
During one of our recent visits, part of Castle Courtyard in Fantasyland was blocked off with green barriers. The shops inside the castle remained accessible, but La Galerie de la Belle au Bois Dormant was temporarily closed.

Several Cast Members were monitoring the area throughout the day. We have seen similar safety measures in the past, especially during extremely windy weather, when certain areas around the castle were temporarily closed to guests.
Disneyland Paris did not share any official information about why Castle Courtyard was blocked off. However, as one of the golden spires on the courtyard side of the castle has now been removed, we assume it may have been connected to the safety measures.

Castle Courtyard and La Galerie de la Belle au Bois Dormant were fully accessible again during our most recent visit.
Looking more closely at the turret, it definitely appears to need some attention. Sleeping Beauty Castle received its largest refurbishment ever in 2021, ahead of Disneyland Paris’s 30th anniversary. However, several turrets have already required additional work in recent years because of paint and maintenance issues.

Teams are also currently working on the bridge in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. The bridge is closed to guests until this fall and was not included in the castle’s major 2021 refurbishment.
